MOBILE-FIRST DESIGN
Mobile-first responsive design ensuring flawless experiences on phones, tablets, and desktops. With 60%+ of traffic coming from mobile, your website must be designed for small screens first.
OVERVIEW
Mobile traffic accounts for over 60% of web visits in Europe. Google uses mobile-first indexing, meaning your mobile experience determines your search rankings. Yet many websites are still designed for desktop and squeezed onto mobile as an afterthought. Our mobile-first design service flips this approach, creating experiences that are exceptional on mobile and scale up beautifully to larger screens.
Mobile-first means we design the mobile experience before the desktop experience. This constraint forces prioritisation of the most important content and actions. When you have limited screen space, every element must earn its place. This clarity of purpose benefits the desktop experience too, resulting in cleaner, more focused designs at every screen size.
Touch interaction design considers how people actually use mobile devices. We design touch targets that are at least 44x44 pixels for comfortable tapping. Navigation patterns are optimised for thumb reach zones. Swipe gestures are used where they feel natural. Pull-to-refresh, bottom navigation, and floating action buttons follow mobile platform conventions that users already understand.
Responsive typography and spacing scale proportionally across devices using CSS clamp functions. Headings that fill a mobile screen are proportionally impactful on desktop without being absurdly large. Line lengths are controlled for readability at every width. Spacing increases with screen size to prevent large-screen designs from feeling cramped.
Performance on mobile networks is a design constraint we take seriously. Images are served in appropriate sizes for each device with srcset and sizes attributes. Above-the-fold content is prioritised for immediate rendering. JavaScript is minimised and deferred. These techniques ensure your website loads fast even on 3G connections common in some European areas.
We test on real devices throughout the design and development process. iOS Safari, Android Chrome, Samsung Internet, and other mobile browsers each have quirks that only real device testing reveals. We test across screen sizes from 320px to 428px on phones, 768px to 1024px on tablets, and 1280px and above on desktop. The result is a website that feels native on every device.
